Welcome to the Roach Place. My name is Sam Roach and this is my web site. If this your first time visiting this site let me explain a couple of things.
The Name: I got the idea for the name based on where I was raised. I lived in Eastern Washington as a kid in a small town called Twisp. It was a rural community and most of the farms there were simply known by their owners’ names, hence Mr. Jones’ farm was known as the Jones Place and everyone knew where it was. This is my cyber home and hopefully you will get to know it.
The Purpose: Because Jesus is the focal point of the whole Bible, the purpose of this website is to show how Jesus is relevant to life in the 21st Century and it's written especially for the person who knows little to nothing about Jesus, other than what they might have heard or read on social media. I won't use religious or churchy terms if I can help it and, if I do, I'll make it a point to explain what they mean. When I can, I will try and give some of the backstory to the stories that I'm writing about so that they actually make sense. Look, at the end of the day, if Jesus is relevant then he has to make sense or what's the point?
What you can expect: You can expect every week or two a new story or article being posted, short enough to be read in a single sitting. The articles will be written in such a way to engage anyone, regardless of their religious background and I tend to ask the kinds of questions that no one usually asks when I write. My thought process when I write is often, "I wonder why it happened that way?" or, "What's so obvious here that everyone keeps overlooking it in spite of the fact that it's a game changer?" With these kinds of questions, I then start to explore the part of the Bible that I'm writing about and, if when I'm finished, my reader says something like, "I've never thought about it like that," then I did my job.
What’s not here: 1. A pitch for money. This is a free site. 2. A political agenda. This site is about Jesus, not a political agenda. Granted, if Jesus and someone's pet political agenda butt heads, so be it I guess, but it's really not the point here.
How can you contact me? Under the "More" tab at the top of the page if you will click on it, you will find a page with contact information. I am also active on Facebook and Instagram. My Instagram account is sam.roach.16 and I have included one of the common profile pics that I use on Facebook if you want to contact me on that social media site.
By the way, yes, that is a lion and a warthog behind me in the pic up there. That picture was taken in an actual grocery store in Twisp that's located on the south end of town. It's kind of a trippy store. It has a bunch of stuffed animals that have been preserved by a taxidermist all over the place. You can ask the box boy something like this. "Excuse me, but what aisle is the cereal on?" and he'll tell you that on the same aisle as the antelope just before you get to the leopard. Seriously.
